Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a leader in education and professional development, offering the most advanced theoretical and practical training available today. We employ exceptional faculty and cultivate a rich academic environment. Our heritage lineage of acupuncture manipulation techniques has been passed on from Master Jin Zhang, a world-renowned expert in needle manipulations, and we carry this tradition on to you. 

Our mandate is to share the wisdom of tradition and our lineage with you while we explore the possibilities of practice in today’s diverse medical world.

 

Our specialties include advanced needle manipulations taught by Master Jin Zhang, Wu’s Head Massage created by our president, TCM as practiced in integrative medical contexts, and qigong or energy medicine.

 

We are certified by Human Resource Development Canada as an educational institution and approved by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada as a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) to accept and offer education to foreign students to study in Canada. We are also registered with the Canada Revenue Agency and Toronto Municipal Licensing & Standards, which means that our students enrolled in the Diploma of Acupuncture, Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner may be eligible, if qualified, for loans, grants or awards granted under the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), and that graduates can apply to write the PAN-Canadian TCM and Acupuncture Exams to qualify for R.Ac and R.TCMP titles.

 

Our college provides flexible schedules, comfortable and accessible learning environments, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and two easily accessible campuses. The main campus is located in the city of Markham with free parking in front of the building and since 2016, our branch campus is located in Toronto Chinatown with easy TTC access. Full- and part-time schedules are sure to meet your needs for the day, night, or weekend classes. 

 

Our college has been being the editor in chief and publisher for the monthly journal - "World Chinese Medicine" (Canada Edition) since January 2019. It is the first Canadian comprehensive electronic academic journal of Chinese medicine and acupuncture, which is free sent to the public in both Canada and abroad. It is an electronic publication approved by the Federal Government of Canada (ISSN 2562-3028). It is charged by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and hosted by the journal of "World Chinese Medicine". 70% of the articles of "World Chinese Medicine" (Canada Edition) are from "World Chinese Medicine", including the most cutting-edge research and development trends of traditional Chinese medicine. 30% of the articles are from Canada, especially in Ontario. Topics are from Canadian academic exchanges on traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture ( professional experience and research, teacher-student forums, trends of regulatory agencies, information from teaching institutions, etc. ). In addition, the magazine introduces key points on worldwide renowned doctors, famous hospitals, named enterprises as well as well-known medicines. "World Chinese Medicine" (Canada Edition) aims at Canadian registered Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists, especially Chinese medicine acupuncture clinics. Our college has decided to send the electronic version of the magazine for FREE for everyone's convenience.  

 

OCTCM has also been hosting the International Conference of Western Studies and Canada Acupuncture and TCM Continuing Education Conference since 2009. This summit forum and academic conference bring together leading experts and scholars from academia in China and around the world for exchanging and enriching knowledge.

Since 1998, we have trained exceptional acupuncturists and TCM practitioners. We are at the forefront of the field and are excited to offer you the opportunity to study this treasured medicine. I am delighted and honoured to have the opportunity to introduce to you our college of traditional Chinese medicine.

 

OCTCM is a member of the Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Colleges of Canada (FTCMCC). The Acupuncture and TCM Practitioners programs at OCTCM are designed to meet and exceed the educational requirements of CTCMPAO towards Registered Acupuncturist (R. Ac) and Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R. TCMP) certification. Our graduates are eligible to attend the national examinations held by CARB-TCMPA.

 

The increasing demand for acupuncturists and TCM practitioners worldwide. noticing services has attracted attention from enthusiasts, politicians, communities and medical professionals worldwide. People’s needs can no longer be fulfilled with temporary solutions to illness and pain. As we educate our communities on the long-lasting effects of holistic-based medicine, we see a greater demand for practitioners of complementary medicine in North America. As a traditional healing treatment that dates back 2,500 years, Traditional Chinese Medicine has gained a reputation for its success in treating a variety of diseases and illnesses; and predominantly, for its effectiveness in prevention. We can’t help but healthcare and lifestyles continues to increase, concerns about diets. As the population ages and as the number of people suffering from the effects of overpopulation, environmental pollution, unhealthy

 

 

TCM encompasses a view of healing that integrates body, mind, and spirit, which aims to restore the body’s natural harmony and balance. Such modalities as acupuncture, tuina (Chinese Medicinal Massage), herbal medicine, nutritional therapy, moxibustion, and qigong (Chinese Energy Cultivation) are implemented to help achieve lifestyle adjustments and betterment.

 

The purpose and goal of OCTCM is to introduce students to the most advanced theoretical and practical TCM training available in North America. We endeavor to prepare and train graduates to become caring, ethical, and highly effective practitioners in the fields of Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, tuina massage and qigong. Furthermore, we are in affiliation with several well-known TCM universities in China; our students have the opportunity to receive superior training within Canada from world-renowned guest lecturers, and to participate in our annual clinical internships in China.

 

At OCTCM, you will experience an engaging and innovative academic environment that is founded on our compassionate and caring college community. Numerous opportunities to practice TCM are provided to help advance and accelerate our students’ success in the professional field. Our graduates have found their paths in private TCM clinics, health and wellness clinics, hospitals, as well as partnership with other medical professionals.
